Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept all dogs?
Not quite! To ensure a safe, comfortable environment for every guest, The Wag Lab specializes in small dogs weighing up to 25 pounds. Our boutique space was intentionally designed for little pups, allowing them to play, socialize, and relax without feeling overwhelmed by larger dogs.
What are the requirements for admission?
To join our pack, every dog must:
-
Be up to date on vaccinations (Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella as recommended by your veterinarian)
-
Be on a current flea and tick prevention program
-
Be free from contagious illnesses, parasites, or injuries
-
Complete a temperament assessment
-
Have a completed client profile and emergency contact information
-
Be comfortable being around other small dogs
For the safety of our guests, we reserve the right to decline admission if a dog displays behavior that may place themselves or others at risk.
What is a temperament assessment? Is it required?
Temperament assessment fee is $60
Yes! Every new pup completes a complimentary Meet & Greet Assessment before attending daycare or overnight stays.
During this visit, we'll slowly introduce your dog to our environment and a few carefully selected playmates while observing their:
-
Comfort level in a new space
-
Confidence and body language
-
Play style
-
Social skills with other dogs
-
Response to handling and new experiences
This helps us ensure The Wag Lab is the right fit for your dog and allows us to create the best possible experience from day one.
Why is the assessment important?
Just like people, every dog has a unique personality. Some love making new friends immediately, while others need a little extra time to warm up.
Our assessment allows us to understand your dog's individual needs and helps us maintain the calm, positive atmosphere that makes The Wag Lab special.
How many dogs do you care for each day?
We intentionally limit our daycare to a small group every day.
Keeping our numbers small allows us to provide:
-
More one-on-one attention
-
Constant supervision
-
A calmer, less stressful environment
-
Personalized care for every member of the pack
Quality care will always come before quantity.
Will my dog be supervised?
Absolutely. Dogs are supervised throughout the day while they play, rest, and socialize. We prioritize safety, positive interactions, and plenty of opportunities for breaks and quiet time.
What should I bring for my dog's first visit?
For daycare, simply bring your pup wearing a secure collar or harness and leash.
For overnight stays, we recommend bringing:
-
Their food (pre-portioned if possible)
-
Any medications with instructions
-
A favorite blanket or toy (optional)
-
Anything that helps them feel at home
Can you administer medication?
Yes. We can administer most oral and topical medications according to your veterinarian's instructions. Please let us know about any medications when booking your reservation.
Do you separate dogs by size or temperament?
Because we exclusively care for dogs 25 pounds and under, all guests are similar in size. We also carefully consider each dog's temperament and play style to encourage safe, positive interactions throughout the day.
What happens if my dog isn't a good fit?
Our goal is for every dog to feel safe, happy, and comfortable. If we determine that our environment isn't the best fit for your pup, we'll discuss our observations with you and may recommend alternative care options better suited to their needs.
How far in advance should I book?
Because we maintain a limited capacity of 20 dogs per day, reservations often fill quickly. We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for weekends, holidays, and overnight stays.
Can my dog attend if they're not spayed or neutered?
No, all dogs must be spayed or neutered and fully potty trained. We do not use pee pads inside.
What if my dog is nervous?
That's perfectly okay! Many dogs need a little time to adjust to a new environment. Our slow introductions, small group sizes, and personalized approach help nervous pups build confidence at their own pace.
Still have questions?
Give us a bark! We'd love to help you decide if The Wag Lab is the perfect fit for your furry family member. 🐾
